Pour it up, drink it down: Watermelon Juice Recipe for Summer

Water is the purest and healthiest drink out there. It is free of fats, sugar, and caffine :/ (a vice of mine). It improves your metabolism, detoxifies your body, and hydrates it for optimum performance, and if you are living in a heat wave like me you should be drinking more than you probably are.

All the robust flavors of water sometimes make it difficult to get the proper amount. So, I like to find ways to spice up my water, weather thats with lemon, cucumbers, mint leaves or anything that might add a little bit of FLAVA. Besides, it's not summer if you don't at some point eat a watermelon. Watermelons are great for cleansing and hydrating the body among many other benefits. I figured since they are about 92% water there must be a way to create a delishis drink myself!

Below is a cumulation of ideas I found searching the interwebs, using my stellar taste buds and always wanting to be super quick in the kitchen. Seriously, this recipe took me about 15 mins. start to finish.

Give it a try yourself, tell me what you think :)

Ingredients

  • 8 cups of water, divide (try mixing with sparkling water too, or if you are daring try with your favorite adult bev.)
  • 5 cups cubed, and seeded watermelon
  • 1/4 cup agave syrup (or to taste, you might like it without any sweetener)
  • 1/3 cup lime juice
  • mint leaves

Directions

  • Mix 1 cup water, watermelon cubes and syrup until smooth. Pour into a large pitcher and mix in the rest of the water and lime juice while stirring

  • Throw in some mint leaves and allow to chill for about an hour, or pour over ice

Tastes like summer, right?

PRO TIP:

Use a cocktail muddler to crush up the mint leaves before adding the juice mixture
